Family Emergency Management Plan (FEMP) Workshop

Congratulations to the 10 participants of the Family Emergency Management Plan (FEMP) workshop! This 2-day workshop, a joint partnership with ADRA & CAN DO Fiji, and Lifebread focused on Disaster Risk Reduction with emphasis on preparedness and safety measures that can be enforced at the family level during a disaster. The participants learnt practical skills and shown how to: • Draw up and implement an emergency management plan • Plan multiple evacuation routes and meeting places • Assemble a reliable disaster supplies kit • Clarify family responsibilities during emergencies Also included were Training of Trainers (TOT) participants, with each trainer delivering sessions to attendees. They also received their Certificates of Completion for finishing the Family Emergency Management Plan (FEMP). Mr. Daniel Taufaga (CAN DO Project Manager), encouraged the participants to view preparedness as an ongoing journey, not a one-time event. Participants were also challenged to share the knowledge and skills gained with their immediate families and community. He emphasised the importance of mitigating disaster risks through careful planning, a practice that should be shared and nurtured within a family unit. A heartfelt thank you to everyone for your engagement, questions, and teamwork. Your commitment strengthens our community’s resilience. Wishing you and your families confidence as you put these plans into action.
